On the day you were born ...

The day you were born, Heaven rejoiced and hearts were broken on earth with decisions that had to be made. Alone, on a busy government.building step, was a tiny little baby girl with the most beautiful smile. You were perfectly made, but that was tragedy to your parents. Today, we celebrate LIFE. Your parents made a heroic decision to help you have everything you would need in care. They brought you into this world and put you in the arms of another. Today, we honor your birth mother. Our family tree has quickly become an orchard. Your birth family is loved and thought of every day. I climbed into bed with you last night after the tucking in. It was a surprise to you and you giggled and loved every second. I wept and held your face and told you how much I adored you and that I would spend my whole life showing you how treasured you are. You're a bright star in a dark world, Evie. I know your birth mother would be incredibly proud of you. Your love for music.. did it come from her? Your huge, brown eyes that light up in wonder... does she have those same eyes? I lie in bed and dream of hugging her and telling her thank you for her gift that she should've never had to give. It was her gift.   You were never meant to be with us - ever. But just when God knew it was time, we saw your face after such tragedy. How could we see the crisis and not respond? You have brought us immense happiness and I'm so thankful you're our daughter. We celebrate your birth mother every single day; through your smiles, milestones, and firsts, we give her such praise in choosing a second chance for you. Thank you, God, for adoption. Thank you, God, for Evie.

                                                                   In privilege,
                                                                         Mama
