It is finally Evie day!

We all went down to the lobby at 11:00. We found a couch and waiter for Cindy to arrive and the you were supposed to arrive about 20 minutes later. Cindy arrived and said "she is over there." I immediately jumped up and said "are you sure that it is her?" There you were, sitting in a chair in a bright yellow coat. Everything went dizzy! I couldn't believe my eyes! You came right to me when they told you that I was your Mama. You walked over and hugged me instantly. Skin on my cheek never felt so good! We sat down in the floor and started to show you your backpack and things inside. When you saw your two soft lovies, you fell for them! You hugged them so tightly. If anyone went to grab them to protect them from your yogurt you were eating, you would have a fit! You sat in my lap and would guide my hands to what you wanted. After a bit we started the paperwork. I thought I would take you to walk around while Baba signed all the papers. Oh my stars!!! Ive never in my life have I worked so hard. You were pulling my hand and when you wanted to go somewhere that we couldn't, you would collapse to the floor or keep pulling. My mouth was dry, I was sweating profusely and I wasn't giving in. The director told us that the orphanage had 40 kids and only 8 staff. The director was very honest in that You were very neglected, but not by choice. You have spent 6.5 years inside an orphanage with very little stimulation, toys and care. I feel so badly for these orphanages that are trying their best. After we finished paperwork, Cindy told us to meet her in the lobby in 20 minutes for lunch. I stayed behind with you and the others went to a noodle shop. I gave you a bath and that was interesting. You didn't hate it or like it... you were just indifferent. The bath tub has a handheld sprayer and it is a strong pressure. I turned it on to wash your hair and it was pointed to me. I kept trying to grab it and was unsuccessful. She laughed until she almost cried. Lol lol They brought you and I back lunch and mine was awful. They got you some beef pancakes which were delicious. The beef pancakes are basically like a round egg roll .. it's a fried bread with a beef and veggie filling. Now I am starving at 7:00 but going to try to wait until breakfast to eat. Tomorrow we have to go get a big piece of luggage because Baba's is splitting. The plan is for Cindy, Baba, Anna and Ezra to walk and get the suitcase and then fill it with some groceries and supplies we need. If we buy ramen noodle bowls, we can have them for an emergency meal since we have a hot pot in our room to boil water. It is now 9:30 and everyone is asleep and you are escaping me and turning on the lights. .. and laughing. I'm dying. We adopted a two year old it seems. You are so smart.. just can't speak (probably due to hearing loss). We love you fiercely, Yi Ran!

Surviving in China,

mama
